October 31, 2010: The closing of Expo 2010 in Shanghai was marked at the Canada Pavilion by a salute to the flag attended by members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

October 31, 2010: Closing day at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China. After 184 days of operation, all staff line up in front of the Canada Pavilion for the final photo. The 6,000m2 site required over 300 staff members from early in the morning until late at night, seven days a week. Employees include including hosting staff, receptionists, the culinary and serving team, Cirque du Soleil and their performers, SNC-Lavalin, cleaning and security, the restaurant and gift store, a communications team, a special events and protocol team, an operations team and administration.

In addition to closing the week-long event, the Minister celebrated the 40th anniversary of Canada-China relations at an evening canape reception.

The four-day event highlighted Canada's value propositions for foreign direct investment in sectors including mining exploration, digital media, life sciences, and renewable energy. The Business Centre at the Canada Pavilion has been the venue for close to one hundred events designed to foster collaboration, trade, and partnerships between Canadian organizations and their Chinese counterparts.

October 18, 2010 - On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism), welcomes the 5,800,000th visitor, Xiao Xi Zhi, to the Canada Pavilion at Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Canada exceeded its attendance goal two weeks before the end of the exposition. Minister Moore was in Shanghai as part of Canada's first national tourism mission to China. He was accompanied by four provincial tourism ministers including the Honourable Kevin Krueger, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Arts, British Columbia, the Honourable Robert Vessey, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Prince Edward Island, the Honourable Flor Marcelino, Minister of Culture, Heritage, Tourism and Sport, Manitoba, and the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture & Recreation, Newfoundland and Labrador. The Forum, organized by the Canada China Business Council (CCBC), explored Shanghai's transformation into an international financial centre.

October 4, 2010 - Canada Pavilion hosts Eamon Leonard and Brian Westland undertake hosting duties at the Germany Pavilion as part of an Expo 2010 Staff Exchange . September 11, 2010 - Gregor Robertson, Mayor of Vancouver, speaks at an evening reception at the Canada Pavilion. The event closed the three-day Vancouver Economic Development Commission (VEDC) "Green Capital Trade Mission" to Shanghai. Mayor Gregor Robertson, Vancouver's chief spokesman on green capital messaging, was accompanied by over 20 Vancouver businesses from sectors including clean tech, green buildings, and digital media/film sectors. The delegation also attended Vancouver Day on September 10th at the Vancouver Pavilion located at the Urban Best Practices Area of Expo 2010 Shanghai.

Mr. Rick Hansen began his historic journey in Vancouver 25 years ago to raise awareness of the potential of people with disabilities. His world tour visited 34 countries and included a trek on the Great Wall of China. In 1988, Mr. Hansen served as Commissioner General of the Canada Pavilion at Expo 1988 in Brisbane, Australia. In this photo, Mark H. Rowswell, Commissioner General of the Canada Pavilion, presents Mr. Hansen with a commemorative plaque in recognition of Man in Motion Day at the Canada Pavilion.

September 6, 2010 - Canada Pavilion Hosting Staff member, Gabriel Hughes Andre Ouellet, receives the "Smiling Star" award from the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination. The "Smiling Star" is awarded on a monthly basis by Expo 2010 Shanghai to a hosting staff member of Expo 2010 pavilions. This is the second time a Canada Pavilion hosting staff has won the award. Jessie Cowen, originally from Ottawa, Ontario, earned the award for the month of July.

September 6, 2010 - Canada Pavilion Hosting Staff member, Gabriel Hughes Andre Ouellet, receives the "Smiling Star" award from the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination. The "Smiling Star" is awarded on a monthly basis by Expo 2010 Shanghai to a hosting staff member of Expo 2010 pavilions. This is the second time a Canada Pavilion hosting staff has won the award. Jessie Cowen, originally from Ottawa, Ontario, earned the award for the month of July.
