June 2, 2010: Minister Van Loan participates in the Canada-China Joint Science & Technology Committee meeting. Canada and China, in recognition of potential collaborative opportunities, signed the Canada-China science and technology (S&T) agreement in January 2007. The agreement encourages Canadian and Chinese researchers to generate new and expanded technology-based partnerships. Projects ranging from agricultural research to pharmaceutical research have been funded under the agreement. Minister Van Loan witnessed the exchange of four Joint Research Activity Agreements between National Research Council and Chinese counterparts.
