At a news conference on September 25, 2009 at the Shanghai Expo Bureau, Canada's Commissioner General, Mark H. Rowswell, provided an update to Chinese media about Canada's plans for Expo 2010.

At an event in Shanghai on May 13, the Government of Canada announced Mark Rowswell, whose stage name in China is Dashan, will be Canada's Commissioner General for Expo 2010.
The design for the Canada Pavilion at Expo 2010 is now finalized. The design approach, which has an open air public square as its centre piece, was first unveiled in January 2008.
Cirque du Soleil recently appointed Ms. Pascale Hébert as Cultural Program Director for Canada at Expo 2010. The Program will focus on celebrating Canadian culture by promoting renowned and emerging Canadian artists and creators from a variety of disciplines.
