Canada Pavilion Staff

Recruited from across Canada, the Expo 2010 hosting staff greets visitors, answers questions about the pavilion, and discusses the pavilion's theme of "The Living City: inclusive, sustainable, creative." Numbering close to 40 individuals, the group is representative of Canada's linguistic and cultural diversity. In addition to being fluent in French or English, all members of the hosting staff are conversant in Mandarin. Their knowledge of Canada and their comfort in communicating in the local language make them excellent ambassadors for Canada. The program also provides these young people with unique international work experience at a major international event. In addition to the hosting staff, the Canada Pavilion includes administrative and management staff who originate from all regions of Canada.

Young Canadian Chefs at the Canada Pavilion

Six young chefs from across Canada have joined Chef Wayne Murphy and the culinary program at the Canada Pavilion. The opportunity to participate in this program was earned through a national competition. Canadian public culinary schools, community colleges, and the Canadian Federation of Chefs and Cooks recommended candidates. These young chefs are responsible for catering special events at the pavilion and for introducing pavilion guests to Canadian culinary products.

The student chefs are:

Melissa Hryb - Red River College, Winnipeg, Manitoba
Hugo Martineau - Collège Lasalle, Montréal, Quebec
Andrew Newman - Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Edmonton, Alberta
Junior Therriault - Collège Mérici, Québec City, Quebec
Mariane Weber - La Cité collégiale, Ottawa, Ontario
Mandy Wingert - Holland College, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
