Literature

This component, which uses an innovative approach developed in collaboration with the Blue Metropolis Foundation, features a "slam" event. This will serve as an original way to introduce Chinese audiences to Canadian literature.

The Translation Slam / Le dire autrement is the Blue Metropolis Foundation's signature event, which it has been presenting each year for 10 years as part of the Blue Metropolis Montreal International Literary Festival. At Expo 2010, it will feature a roundtable where two poets (one English-speaking and one Chinese-speaking) are each translated by two translators.

Since its inception, the Translation Slam has been organized at the PEN World Voices Festival, the Toronto French Book Fair and Calgary World Fest. The selected author is Canadian poet Albert F. Moritz.

Albert F. Moritz has been a resident of Canada since he received his Ph.D. in 1975. In his early career he was a prolific journalist, film columnist, and copy writer.  Since 1986 he has taught a variety of literature and creative-writing courses at the University of Toronto.  As a poet, Moritz is in the tradition of the Romantics, and has published nine books of poetry.
